My mom now 93 and her mom always used to brush their teeth with it lol - those days depression era and pre were times they had many of their own cures - I’ve heard of many other uses but anons here have more knowledge I’m sure (;

Baking soda is a natural whitener of teeth.

Also baking soda mixed with some soap and it becomes a very good cleaner of dishes and clothes.
