Sure thing, like I say semi-obscure reference but those who lived through the commercials will either think this is hilarious, want to slap me for reminding them, or possibly both.
Aside: The Zappa '88 tour imploded on the road. Despite the frictions, before this they still incorporated much humor - current/improvisational - into their show. I remember an account of one night where someone kept saying "We're Beatrice" into the mic at random times and they were all dying trying to keep from messing up while laughing etc.
Edit: Which puts the commercials right around '88 as well.
Whatsapp is owned by Facebook. Or Meta. Or Beatrice.
W8 I'm lost on the Beatrice part...o.O
In the 80s there were these commercials, this conglomerate "Beatrice" had taken over like everything.

I didn't know that!
How interesting.
However, we still use HAL and it's far older.
Dave (astronaut): "Open the pod bay doors, HAL."
HAL 9000: "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that."
