Boil the water. Won't deal with most chemicals, but if it is graphene, fungal, or bacterial it should do enough damage to neutralize them.
Boiling the water concentrates some toxins, and a totally makes blue green algae even MORE deadly, so that's not always a solution
Chlorine dioxide (mms?) is used commercially to make water safe, also iodine.
