Mine is turning 18. She can't jump up on counters directly but she has created a path from the chair to the garbage can to the counter. And she can't hear anything either. She has always had a loud meow but now if you startle her, dang, she YELLS. But she still has spunk. She has Personality with a capital P.
That said, I had to put her buddy down last year. He was my love bug.. Anniversary is next Wednesday. Miss him...
One of mine, a chihuahua, just turned 18 in January. Now he's exhibiting signs of a heart murmur, which is what took his half brother a couple years ago. It's always so tough to lose a member of our family, which is what our pets are
It is individual to the animal, but when they stop eating is a biggie. Mine had a melanoma in his mouth. The pain was getting so bad that he would cry and that was when we made the decision.
Mine is 18 and a half and still holding her own even though she can’t jump up on counters any longer and she seems to have lost her hearing.

Mines almost 17 (woah just realized that)
Her back leg hurts her from arthritis or something. She walks a lot slower than she used to. When do you know it’s time to put them down?

Never lost a pet. We’ll see how it hits me.
Pray that it doesn't come to that, and that God will take them away when the time comes.
Live life to its fullest, as always.
When they stop eating. They know when it’s time and that’s how they’ll tell you.
Ok thanks, that will be a sad day.

Awe. My cat has lost almost all her teeth. She kind of just swallows her kibble whole now. It's really sad
