IMO, it is because the JFK-Dems (pre WEF takeover) thought that they would recruit him to run for office as a Dem, way back then. After all, DJT was a registered Dem in NY for a LONG time.
I agree with Swervish, look at who was primarily interviewing him. They thought they could build him up, pull him into the club, and offer him as their candidate one day.
As an entrepreneur and self promoter, Trump didn’t pass on any opportunity to make himself famous.
The problem for the Dems is they weren’t listening to his positions very closely until it was too late. As far back as 1988 he was giving voice to an America First perspective. But instead of China, Japan was his target.
What’s interesting to me is how fast the Establishment of both parties turned on him as soon as he announced his candidacy. And how hard they have gone after him.
