Israel may be small, but is an important player on the global field.
Let's not forget that Russia is hardly a superpower compared to the US. Their GDP is smaller than Texas.
Allegedly, Russia has already released documents exposing the US biolabs in the Ukraine, and has clearly decimated the vast majority of any Ukrainian military resistance. If the mayor of Timbuktu can help bring stability and open communication to the region, then it ought to be encouraged.

Bringing in a third party to mediate is completely normal. The size of that party is irrelevant, nothing wrong with Guatemala stepping up.
But we all know there aren't any actual good faith negotiations anyways so moot point.
