She was a Christian in Lebanon and around 10 maybe 12yo She was from a fairly middle class neighbourhood and her parents were very happy with lots of friends. They used to get together every weekend for bbqs and parties and the children were minded by other families if the need ever arose. Their neighbours were doctors engineers etc. This is not a religious war like she experienced and the Amish would be the first to help. But. Everyone knows they keep a huge stock of food and will be sadly targeted. I’ll never forget the words that Gabrielle said. When the caliphate was declared, the very people, our friends and neighbours that we loved, were our friends, where our children played together, we had meals etc together, took up the call and began killing their neighbours. Why??? Because if you didn’t, the Caliph considered you a traitor and put out an order for you to be killed. They had to flee for their lives where they spent years hiding underground before the Israeli soldiers found them and rescued them. This is not the same I know, but during these times you must not be dependent upon anyone - those days of doing that are long passed.
