That annoyed me too. I taught my children to show proper respect to every person they talk to, from a stranger at 7-11 to the most powerful man in the world.
Salim, or "the twit" as you call him, has met Trump previously and they have a friendly relationship. He is probably the biggest Trump supporter of the group and I'm sure he wouldn't have done that if he didn't know beforehand that Trump was okay with it. Just like how they were allowed to promote their alcohol brand. I'm sure they didn't just randomly do anything without it being cleared first. They have several successful business ventures and a brand image and Trump is fine with them maintaining their image.
He should have shared a brief remark to that effect for new listeners, which he should have known would be a shit-ton of new people. Even something as casual as "So Don—you don't mind if I call you Don, right?—('Not at all, that's my name,' would probably respond the ever-gracious President Trump)—so anyway Don, let me ask you..."
Even so, still too hipster for my blood. He's a young pup, this gentleman is the savior of the free world and old enough to be his grandfather. Wouldn't kill him to show some public respect and save the Donny stuff for in private, instead of showing off. Hey looga me everbuddy, I get to call perhaps the most important human being who's lived in the past two thousand years by his first name.
Salim is only 19 years old. If he came across as a bit ignorant, it's because he is. But he described his first meeting with Trump as the best moment of his life and has said the person he most admires in life is Candice Owens. Dude is an ally.
They had to tell President Trump that they had met before because he wouldn't have remembered. So no, they don't have a friendly relationship with him. Calling the President of the US, Don, and Donny came across to many as rude and childish.
Ummmm did you forget that Trump was a reality TV star? He knows them. He was playing a role. You really think these guys were allowed to just randomly roll into Mar a Lago in hoodies with a case of beer? They flew on Air Force 1 with him and interacted with him for a good while. Trump knows exactly who they are. Don jr. was already on their podcast. They also recently had Candice Owens on their pod. Dan Scavino knows them. You really think Trump wasn't briefed before the interview? They are more well known than I think you realize and they have a role to play. Their role is to get the message out to younger people who don't get their panties in a bunch over the president being called Donnie. Perhaps you aren't in the demographic that this was designed to inform.
The video is approaching 4 million views and it's not all just because of Trump. These guys have over 7 million subscribers on their main youtube channel. They can deliver more new eyes on these topics than CNN and Fox News combined.
Before Meeting: “Imma go in for a bump, you know what I’m saying”
After meeting: “Good afternoon, Mr President. It’s my pleasure to make your acquaintance. formal handshake
“I couldn’t get a word out. I’m just there staring at him. I love Donald Trump 🤩.”
The twit going Donny, Don, Don! needed to pipe the fuck down and get respectful.
The expression is "Mister President"
