They were experts at producing biological entities to suit their needs, like little bugs to clean up, certain types of creatures to tend the crops, they were masters of biological fabrication and genetic manipulation. Therefore, their method of total war was to design a plague which wiped out everyone over a certain age, and they had their bugs spread it.
