Maybe the NPC mind is on the look out for things which have total consensus. Aiming for a conflict-free belief system, they want to avoid any and all dissenting comment and opinion.

"If i adopt this belief / buy this product / agree with this idea, there will be people who might challenge me! As an NPC this scares me so I shall just keep looking."

They know the research shows dissenting comments reduce the persuasiveness of their propaganda, while likes and approving comments have no such persuasive power.

Those "12 hours ago" things are based on dates it finds written on the page itself. And often takes the wrong date or time. Also, they can update headlines and bylines, and it will be reflected on the Google with the original post time. This is just someone being hysterical over some time traveling glitch that didn't happen.
