They confuse me. I see a great article come out of there on occasion. Like the report they did on PCR tests and the false positives they were causing in August of 2020.
I’d look at it like any typical large organization…
There will be a cohort of employees, typically younger (journals, tech, admin, etc.) who would want to work for NYT due to the reputation, clout and usually because they’ve been brainwashed to think it’s the place for ultimate journalism, truth and all that jazz.
You then have a cohort, albeit small, of middle and upper management who are there to continually skim and suck off the sweet profits, steady salaries, and all the perks of being at a high level position at a ‘News’ agency (entry to special events, VIP passes, celebrity meets ups, etc.)
Then you have the true captains of the ship, the Board of Directors or largest shareholders. These are the people who pretty much don’t give a shit about the NYT mission but rather focus on building and collecting Power.
So let’s consider, what IS the output of the NYT? It is literally propaganda (the word in of itself isn’t good or bad btw).
Everything else around their core mission is just to fill the space — think home & garden, crosswords, etc. The fun stuff.
SO, if your output (or GDP) is Propaganda … how then do you think the mechanisms of control would be like within the company?
Lots of veteran journalists who quit or got fired from the NYT because they decided to actually do their jobs … investigative journalism, etc.
And, just like any large organization, where the employee base is far larger than the middle-to-upper-to-C-suite-BoD… thinks fall through the cracks. Stories slip through.
This admission of the Hunter Biden laptop is purely a controlled explosion, they are getting ahead of the story.
I’ve been to the NYT offices several times, know my way around the upper management and C-suite… felt like I was negotiating with arms dealers in Africa. The ‘on the floor’ employees though, fun bunch. It’s easy to spot the SJW snowflake type.

But it's mostly hot, steamy, trash
