For hundreds of years, the top woman competitor in a womens sporting event would be the winner. Any random man turning up doesn't really change that, no more than a random driver passing by on the road near an athletics meetup deserves to get a prize rather than the winning sprinter.

Gonna be a lot of salt flowing over this one, and its gonna be great!

True, but the actual 3rd place female swimmer was defrauded out of her medal.

And not just her but team points were lost by women who dropped into Consolation finals who could have finished in the top 8
