Maybe that's why Trump keeps reading the snake story at his rallies. "You knew damn well I was a snake before you let me in."

Someone theorized that it was a karma thing - if they tell you what they're doing and you don't do something to stop it, they don't have the bad karma to pay off in future lives. Or something like that.

Probably. It's mainly because it lets them turn it around and use it against you: "Hey, you knew I was a snake and you still picked me up anyway! It was YOUR choice so any problems are all on YOU!"
