Yeah silly to announce it. Better to post it publically on torrents, public file sharing sites, picture sharing sites, etc. or keep it quiet. (Unless it's disinfo/propaganda)

Therein lies a problem.

They always announce a deal man's switch in an effort to protect themselves, but that tips them off to neutralize that first and then kill you anyway.

Dead man's switch is better announced when in a position like Assange, where you are not safe and need to buy time.

Not so good when you are disposable anyway.

Of course, that assumes any of them are telling the truth. To the best of my knowledge no supposed dead man's switch has yielded any bounty.
