I think Oliver Stone's politics are rather tolerable in the grand scheme of things. He's been somewhat misrepresented by conservatives over the years as somehow being anti-American and/or pro-Communist, but if you really look at his films and perspectives, he's simply been anti-Deep State and that longer than most.
I think if one were to sit down in conversation with him, he would concede that these smaller nations exploited or manipulated by American deep state tactics fell into the arms of opportunistic communist or socialist regimes, simply because that was the available alternative not because it was actually more ideologically pure than something else.
