You can buy a 2 liter of Coca Cola for 90 rubles. In the United States, it costs roughly $2.
So my understanding from this chart and the soda metric is the ruble is worth twice as much as the US dollar.
Coke is just sugar water. They can sell it at any price, whatever the market will bear.
Just gimme my damn liter o cola! u/#farva
Yes, I literally typed the first comparative item anyone can find anywhere in the world. Should I have used candy bar? Basketball? Socks? Btfo
It’s almost like there are other factors that impact unit cost! Such as relative area wage, taxes, store premiums. A two liter in Pickens Mississippi is 1.30, but in Jackson it’s 2.12 and in NYC it’s 2.40.
I don’t think the Coca Cola example is a good one here, it’s far too relative. There is another metric called the Big Mac index or something like that — the theory is because Big Macs are made IN the country they are sold, it’s a litmus test on the health of the economy (not necessarily the currency).
Anyways, the chart just says that the Purchasing Power of the Ruble has increased relative to the USD.
But what's the Big Mac > Uncle Vanya conversion rate?
Haha. There's a meme here with that one but I can't think of it yet
I need to get my hands on an Uncle Vanya sand which.
This I have recorded into my journal of ‘things to accomplish’.
Then people would bitch about McDonald’s closing down in Russia. It’s a lose/lose on here sometimes lol
