Two common themes in almost every Disney movie, no matter how old:

Traumatic death (or separation from) of a parent(s) of the main character. Bambi, Lion King, Frozen, Snow White, Chitty Chitty Banh Bang, Finding Nemo, Lilo and Stitch, Pocahontas, Cindarella, Ratatouille, Fox and the Hound, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo - many more, I'm sure you get the point.
Minors rebelling against the wishes of their parents and then later being proven "right" - literally EVERY Disney movie.
