Although the inflation is a bad thing, there is a bright side to this.
One of my biggest worries is that food prices were not going to rise fast enough, and most farmers would decide they couldn't afford to plant this year. Because they wouldn't be able to make enough money to pay for gas for their tractors and so on. This would cause an actual shortage as in empty shelves and more severe hardship than just stuff costing more.
If food prices are going up now, then farmers will have some confidence to plant now.
I think if there is an actual shortage of potatoes or lettuce or any product, the market price will rise and if institutions try to stop that, farmers will make their own markets and businesses will spring up.
Even the people causing this crisis on purpose still want to go out to dinner and have steak, maybe with broccoli and a dinner salad.
I do not know that much about commercial farming but this I do know: Every season farmers go into debt for the seed to plant these mega farms they were coerced into creating. This situation totally takes their freedoms. They do not own the crops they produce. They are not free to sell as they please.
They have already been raising prices for the past few months, but tomorrow will be a bummer. Oil and flour are sold out in most parts of Germany or otherwise heavily restricted. Expect paper products to be short as well, as Russia is one of the largest producers. And stock up on fertilizer if you have a garden.
To clarify, I'm not recommending finding a breastfeeding woman for your daily meal, I just mean to say that babies grow very healthy on a high fat diet aka boob milk.

Maybe, but higher retail prices don't always translate to higher prices paid to farmers and ranchers, and they know this.

Absolutely, shareholders will get the Lion's share in dividends.

A local store here has bulk bacon and beef for a decent deal (considering all that's going on) and I am going to get some tomorrow.
Ooohhh!! I love beef jerky. Our friend asked if we'd want to go in on a cow his friend wants to butcher. We'd be set awhile!
I make excellent deer jerky. Have to hide it from my grandson !
FAT, ITS A GREAT WAY TO STORE FAT. (Fat=Healthy) (Breastmilk=Fat)
That is all.

Most Peanut butter has sugar in it. Nullifying its positives.
Rubles are expensive.
