I wonder if they've really isolated the cause as a virus? Because "California Flu" makes me think of Valley Fever, which is a fungal infection named after the San Joaquin Valley in California. Incidentally the spores of this fungus can be spread by wind, which also fits with the claims that the labs were developing bioweapons that could be dropped or spread by the wind. Valley Fever symptoms mimic the flu.
