I believe that any organization that starts to amass power and wealth attracts corrupt people and/or corrupts people over time. The organizations start off with like-minded good intentions, but the seduction of power breeds corruption. This is especially true of secret societies. The lack of transparency is deeply concerning. I believe that a special type of person is attracted to secret societies and fulfills some inner need to belong to a group. As a child, I often dreamt about being on a deserted island with nothing but an infinite amount of books to read. I'm not sure what that says about my personality, but i can definitely say, I have always marched to the beat of a different drum and have never aspired to belong to any group. Funny, because I joined the military and never fully embraced the lifestyle. Only did my 6 year contract and got out because conformity did not suit my personality. I think most of the folks here are somewhat non-conformists and think independently from others.
