My son has made the same observation about Marvel movie storylines. They must not fit the official narrative because they are universally despised by people whose taste in movies is "sophisticated" (which means they only like things that are twisted and dark or obscure to reason). and they never receive awards when the movie industry is congratulating itself with insufferable self-righteousness.
