Again, not corroborated gospel.
And please see my original comment, specifically about idiot fundamentalist defaulting to just throwing New Testament quotes similar to leftists throwing dumbass quotes from “experts” instead of using actual thought and critical thinking
Jesus stated this in the corroborated gospel that you make reference to:
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3)
Do you believe what Jesus said in red letters here, u/cheesus ?
Do you believe that eternal life rests in the knowledge of the God of the Bible, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom He sent?
Happy Palm Sunday.
I think it means something different to people incapable of critical thought and prone to cognitive dissonance - which is a part of fundamentalist thought.
Again, similar to brainwashed lefties.
So while no, I do not believ Christ is explicitly the Only true god (REEEEEEE!!!!) due to context of the time it made sense for him to be expressing however, as an extension of god incarnate, to push that there is only one true god because at the time that is what the fight was. The things your mentioning, for whatever reason, you and other fundamentalist believe apply 1:1 to today and that the translations are all accurate and all intended to be taken without any grains of salt.
However, the good thing about even that fundamentalist nutjob mindset is that it can and does refine the process of helping people become better Nd try for more and live better lives closer to god and goodness so they are better equipped for whatever the afterlife holds.
I believe in god - but I believe all roads lead to Rome. Only people who explicitly deny Christ and do so as a snub at god have anything to worry about. The rest of us will come out the other end fine.
So...it isnt just all of the other parts of the Bible that you don't believe, you also don't even believe the red letter (Christ's words) parts of the corroborated Gospels that you referenced so much. Unfortunately, that leaves you with no basis for your belief system other than one of your own making, which is something other than Christianity.
Your rage against "fundamentalism" may be convenient justification for throwing all of the beliefs of Christianity away, but it leaves you with nothing of Christianity.
This is basic (granted, archaic) MSM bullshit - the New Testament. So while we get one story on Fox, another on CNN, another on OANN and another from internet journos/anons - what does one do? Believe all four as “gospel”? Believe just one and make it our own narrative based on feelings?
I’m sure you know the answer - take each with a grain of salt and apply critical thinking to any common threads, right?
So I do believe christs story and words - but I don’t hinge on just one specific quote as the crux of what I believe, and I find a lot of people do (the John quote above perhaps for example). As with the msm narrative, is the picking and choosing that quote based on feelings? What do the other gospels say in their version of those quotes? What is the common thread among the “editorializing”, if you will?
I believe Christ is “a” way, perhaps the most simple/effective way, but not the only way however.
Again, no qualms with Christ, no qualms with the Bible, but I do take issue with fundamentalists - again, cuz they’re effectively liberals. In the MSM example, fundamentalists are the sheep that keep the great lie moving and thus many from finding the truth. And about as equally annoying to deal with due to the massive ego involved.
Your problem, u/chessus, really appears to be with Jesus and not "fundamentalists". It was Jesus in the red letters of the "corroborated Gospel" that said this:
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
Nope, problem is legit with fundamentalist. Fundamentalist are a bunch of waterhead baby types (or liberals in reverse if you will) who think that not only for certain was the Bible written for and speaking specifically to their time and timeline, but also that it is meant to be taken literally word for word.
I’m guessing i struck a chord because you are one of the maniacal modern sects of Christianiaty (modern meaning formed in the last two hundred years by self proclaimed prophets … you know, Mormons, Pentecostals, etc
Bhsljhheehahd djhagghssheeb llllppffffltttbvmbvshwyjkalfpb ^ the above was me translating some speaking in tongues I just had into txt, it says that all u r said is inspired by Jesus and and for sure is his word. You believe jon of potmos apparently with absolutely zero reason to when he says that, so no reason you shouldn’t believe me.
Not just the Gospels, but all Scripture:
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Jesus stating that He is God is corroborated in the red letters of the Gospels:
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” (John 8:58)
Do you believe that Jesus is God as He stated in the Gospels?
Jesus stating that he came to die for the ransom of many is corroborated in the red letters of the Gospels:
"just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." (Matt. 20:28)
Do you believe that Jesus came to die on the cross and give His life as a ransom for many?
Jesus stating that He is the only way to the Father is corroborated in the red letters of the Gospels:
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
Do you believe that Jesus is the way?
In the Gospels, Jesus responded to Satan by throwing out Scriptural quotes:
4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempteda by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[b]”
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city(H) and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[d]”(K)
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'
11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
(John 4:1-11)
Should Christians not follow the example of Jesus?
Did Jesus not employ the right responses to Satan?
