Just my 2 cents worth. The idea of cultured cellular meat protein is a commendable endeavor. The slaughter of animals on a whole scale is fraught with some pretty abhorrent and ethical issues. The conscientious farmer/rancher uses humane methods of slaughter. Big business isn't interested in humane methods, just the cheapest and most efficient. As in all things that seem to come with big business, eventually morals and ethics are thrown out the window. I support the cell cultured meat substitute for mass production. This is a great way to take animals out of the hands of big business and place it back in the hands of ranchers and farmers that raise their animals with some semblance of compassion. Of course, after big business goes the route of bio cultured meat products, they will launch a massive smear campaign on animal farms and ranches and bribe politicians to regulate the small family farms out of existence. They will mask it behind a "grass roots" movement for animal rights. We have seen this 100's of times before and it will continue until we start putting restraints on corporations and their ability to lobby politicians. If people want to eat the cultured products, good for them. I just figure it will be only a matter of time before they start putting all kinds of weird crap in there for whatever crackhead purposes they dream up. I, for one, will take a hard pass. I'll go vegetarian before I put this in my body. Unless I make it myself.
That we even have lobbyists in a Constitutional Republic is beyond me. Politicians should never be beholden to anyone but “We the People”. Then again, we’re more like a banana republic trying to disguise ourselves under the cloak of “democracy”.
