I'm not religious, but from what research and reading I've done, I thought the Christian understanding is that Satan has only as much power as you give him. That it wasn't always this way (think of Job), but has been since the new testament time of Jesus.
I could be totally wrong here. Validation or correction welcome.
The first temptation is always our own sinful flesh which we must deal with until we die. Sin starts in our thoughts.
James 1:13-15 "Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death."
Yes, that to an extent us correct. Yet, God allows him and his demons to roam the world in search of prey and limits his abilities, however the more people he sucks up and swallows who allow him to rule, give him more strength and power.
"Satan has only as much power as you give him" True on an individual level. People allow Satan inside all the time. Christ Resurrection proved that Satan has no power over spiritual death. We ALL will be resurrected. And we ALL shall receive our perfected bodies back. If you read about the Lords resurrection it's Obvious Christ has His body. How could a person suffer for his sins without a body? Oh it is going to be hell for some
