The King, the Queen, dukes, barons, generals, advisors, royal family... all changing course because one person pointed out the absurdity of a King's decision through humor.

This I agree and it really highlights the "world history" importance to having that ability to tell the truth, with humour. They attack humour probably just as much as the truth so they might have realised this!
