There was 'something' very wrong with where the Rissian 'flagship' was positioned.
First, the Russian 'Flagship' to my understanding was commissioned in 1982. That is a 40 year old ship. It was said it was within 30 Km of the Ukrainian coast. IMHO, a flagship wouldn't be within striking range of the coast line. It would be in the back of the other ships further out at sea. Being so close to the coastline doesn't make any sense to me. It is also reported that all the crew was evacuated from the ship. I haven't read of anyone dying on that ship. Hmmmm, no casualties?
So, I ask this question. Did the Russians just create a 'Pearl Harbor" of their own to rally the Russian people?
It’s a flagship in the sense that it was the largest and most advanced ship in that particular fleet. But, it was an anti aircraft ship and had to be positioned in range of it’s objectives.
A flagship is the ship to which the top admiral resides. By definition, it is not necessarily what you describe. This ship was not suppose to be located where it was. A head command would be located in the safest waters. It doesn't make sense. And probably the reason why the admiral is in deep shit for violating military protocol.
