When I was a kid I was in lovewith Julie Andrews' characters... Maria, Mary poppins, etc. When I say "love" , I just mean that I wanted to be close to her, just like the children she cared for. Her singing made me feel spiritual, although when I was young I didn't understand.
Watching those movies as a grown man is something special. What I noticed, too, about "The Sound of Music" was how prominent a role God played. It was refreshing to see prayer, and humility, and joy, and a sense of guilt... and it just got me thinking: someone needs to start producing quality musicals like that again.
Enough of the explosions, violence, sex, etc. I guarantee that if a wholesome musical hit the big screen it would be well-received by a public yearning for role models who themselves yearn for God's grace within the script.
Just my thoughts on the evening before Easter. Have a blessed day with Christ in your heart.
Julie Andrew’s was my favorite actress growing up. “Mary Poppins” was the first movie I ever saw in a theatre, and the “Sound of Music” was my all time favorite film. I thank my parents for an upbringing that taught me about kindness, love, consideration and virtue. Movies like that also taught us those Godly values. It’s woven into the fibre of America. Don’t give up on America, Patriots. We are braver than we think.
Everything begins in the home. Thanks for sharing. Happy Easter
