Bunny came, kiddies were happy. Easter egg hunt was worth all the gold in the world. Very special to have my three children, and THAT, my friends, is what Jesus did for me. Much love, my frens. He is Risen. Hallelujah!

I always get annoyed at the Easter egg bunny stuff because it becomes what Easter is about. Candy and toys and colorful things to take attention from what Easter really is about.
Actually I stay grumpy every Holiday. Especially Christmas. Makes me not want to celebrate at all.
Harumph.
My children go to a Christian Academy. They were singing songs about Jesus while looking for the goodies. This was organic, and it made daddy very happy to see them playing and laughing and thinking about Jesus.
I grew up knowing the real reason for Easter, but my parents allowed the Easter Bunny, the baskets, new outfits for church etc.,. They told us that the bunny stuff was just for fun, but explained why Jesus was the most important part of Easter. I raised my children that way as well. Sometimes you can have it both ways. Jesus and Resurrection were always the focus.
I chose to tell my children that the Easter bunny is a tradition that my family has to celebrate the gifts that Jesus left for us if we choose to seek them.
Good one!
The bonds created amongst family members is the key to solidifying Faith IMO. Plus, my kids go to Christian Academy, so they get innundadted with biblical context on the daily. Sometimes it's okay to mix some fun in there. After all, they are children.
Actually Jesus has nothing to do with the word Easter. The Passover or anniversary would be more of a correct term. Easter was an event that celebrated a goddess of fertility and sex, and the symbols used in that were the egg and rabbits. Of course all that happened many years before our Lord and Savior arrived. And people got used to saying “this time around Easter”, “around Easter”...Easter, referring to the pagans holiday and the timing of our Saviors death and resurrection, being similar in the days and months of the year.
I personally don’t feel it takes away from our Lord...if anything the pagans holiday now belongs to Christians. How ironic right? But the rabbit and eggs are a direct reference to that goddess. And nothing to do with Christ of course. I just say Good Friday, or anniversary, or Passover. If I say Easter, I make sure to inform folks.
Passover and resurrection. We call it resurrection Sunday not Easter.
Agreed. Tell the kids what it's all about.
We could do without Ester the fertility God and Satan the man in a red suit.
We have enough lies and our youthful emotional responses that we now carry forward are counterfeit. Just teach your kids the truth.
My 6 year old mentioned to me that she thought having spikes driven through your hands and feet had to be really painful.
