The problem with blaming contributing factors as causation of criminal behavior is a convenient scapegoat. The problem seems to be so simple when you can blame these evil deeds on other causes that are easy to identify and quantify to some degree. The problem comes when you realize that there are millions and millions that are in the same situation and they overcome their situation and do not repeat the actions of the few that are committing these acts. This same defense has been tried many times with more or less success. The statement, "I couldn't help myself" or "I had no choice" is ridiculous and pure justification for making a terrible choice. We have all had temptations and even overwhelming urges to do the wrong things, but we simply resist and walk away.
Well put...
Well if you can find the "Free Will" neuron in the brain, your point is valid. I'm just talking pure physics here.
