I spent two years following… idk. Not really keto or anything but I didn’t really eat anything but meat and vegetables with occasional fruit. I fell off when I moved in with my boyfriend but omg I had never felt better than I did during that time. It was a full on physical and mental change. There is definitely something to be said about not eating processed food and avoiding sugar.
During Lent I gave up all sugary foods including drinks and even fruit juices. I limited my carb intake to 100 grams max per day (not super keto but I have to have some allowances because meat is so expensive now that I have to thin out my meals with fruit and veggies, occasionally almond breads which are very low carb and protein heavy), and I felt so light and springy. I didn't feel bloated and weighed down by heavy refined carbs or starchy foods. My acne almost completely cleared up, my hormones started balancing out, I started sleeping better, felt less depressed, etc. It's quite amazing what cutting sugar and carbs will accomplish.
Of course now that Lent is over I've eaten a lot of sugary and carb heavy things to celebrate Easter, but I'm exercising more to compensate. Once I've eaten all these sugary things I'm going right back to my strict diet, and maybe even stricter. I'm going to find as much meat as possible and freeze it because prices will never go down again.
