This may be a specialized case, but I hadn’t been allowing the app to update and had been stuck in the waiting list (100k-ish). But the moment I updated the app, I got in. Maybe it was waiting for security patches to allow new users in?

I also have a secondary, real-name account pending just shy of 900k on the waitlist, and I'm still waiting on that one.

At any rate, the waitlist number never updates, so don't look for progress there; you just suddenly get in one day with no warning.
