There was at least one heavy sounding chopper by me today with transponder off. I'm within 30 miles of DC
What was the request and to whom?

Blackhawks are up everyday at any given at any given place. Airport nearby. They sometimes stop and just chill or something. No fueling. Perhaps waiting orders?
Pilots stand around drinking sodie dopes.
I will try that, thanks! Usually its a game for me now. When I hear one i try to guess what it is, then check on adsbe. Usually they are not broadcasting.
Ahhh. Cool
That is awesome! Thank you, made my week!!!
Blackhawks fly over my house about once or twice a week. Mostly solitary, but sometimes in formations of 2 or 3.
Also CH-47s. Also mostly singular but sometimes in formations of 3.
lucky I would love to see that weekly - we had some fighters once zoom our valley so fast blinking they’re gone but rarely get any birds here besides commercial or the weekend paraglider on a lawnmower engine :/
Stratotankers, Globemasters and the like are common over the mountainous areas surrounding me. Ive only ever seen one with my naked eye.. so high up.
All over VA, NC and TN on the map, tho
Aviation Related Heard crows raising hell today, figured it was a red-tailed hawk. Saw its silhouette and thought it wss being awfully tolerant a d too dark....it was a golden eagle! Cool.as crap.
Yrs ago I saw one down by the Nolichucky river turn sideways at 60 mph and turn a wild turkey into a feather bomb!
Had one fly low above my house yesterday pretty neat and seemed to come from South (maybe SanAntonio who knows) I waved kek and recorded - it was a cool sight - don’t get a ton of them usually over us - heading to Ft Hood would be my guess
I have seen 3 military planes over nc this week. Maybe training in the mountains.
