The mistake is to think reducing CO2 is good for the Earth! "Climate change is due to man's CO2 contributions to the atmosphere" fails in three ways. 1) in order to have global warming as a reason for climate change, you have to have global warming; there hasn't been significant warming above the natural rate of warming, 2) in order for man to have caused climate change, there needs to be global warming caused by man; see #1, and 3) if global warming was happening at a faster rate than the natural rate that has been occurring, the rate of global sea level rise would have increased; it has not. There is probably a couple more reasons why "climate change", as a man-made phenomenon is bogus, but these three are good enough.
