We are a republic that elects it's leaders through a democratic process. We are a democratic republic. Why is it wrong to say democracy but right to say republic even though both are missing a piece of the picture?
I thought u/MordenGeist was extremely clear and thorough in his explanation of the differences between the various terms. How many more words do you need used to explain it?

Because we are neither a democracy NOR a democratic republic. We ARE a Constitutional Republic. Learn the difference.
Every single person says "look it up" or "learn the difference."
