Seriously guys, I'm really getting sick of this. Yes, it's important to learn how to research, but remember when they invented the calculator and the teacher kept telling you how important it was to learn to do it on paper, and yet...there's a fucking calculator?
This place is our calculator. Nobody is going to take anyone else's words at face value, true. And we shouldn't. But the truth is not everyone knows what everyone else knows and we're not going to learn what everyone knows if we keep sticking our noses in the air and saying "look it up yourself."
You looked it up apparently, do us all a favor and show us where you looked. It will help get us all where we need to be a hell of a lot faster.
How you ask goes a long way. A polite request gets sauce from me way more than an impatient, ignorantly worded demand.
Or, as I recently encountered, someone making an authoritative statement that was completely wrong, got called on it, then get indignant that their ignorance was noticed and demanded proof they were wrong.
It's like WTF, man. This is basic shit you should know and NOT have to be this dumb over. Don't speak about shit unless your argument is watertight.
Right. If you end up being wrong about something, be an adult and happy you're enlightened now. I actually see quite a bit of contrition in this community in those circumstances. As well, there are some egotists who refuse to be wrong and hopefully they grow out of that someday. The most important things are getting the facts straight and getting it out there in a constructive way, IMO
agreed. makes a big difference.
