Yes, I believe it is very plausible that it was weaponized years ago starting by 'reverse engineering' pig organ transplants in humans. This is called 'xenotransplantation'. The problem then was organ rejection as a result of the pig's Galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose (α-gal) (Alpha-gal) sugars. The Alpha-gal sugar does not exist in humans as it does in most mammals.
The following article will give you an idea of how they overcame this problem so that animal xenotransplants are readily accepted in the human body. The scientific method requires the isolation of what is at issue. Once it is identified then it is a matter of time before figuring out how to manipulate its process and manufacture. If it is understood then it can be manipulated for whatever purpose (weaponization) is being funded.
