To be honest, I'd probably be looking too if I was at a party. That being said, the same thing happened to me and the dude looking hard for it was the culprit when he "found it" in the place I had checked 5 times already.
So good rule of thumb, but still room for exceptions. But then again, that's true for most things 🤷♂️
I had a co-worker steal $20 from me once. He denied it, but I knew he was the only one that had access to my envelope that had cash in it. I almost chalked it up to me forgetting how much was in the envelope, but something just felt off. A week later I set a trap. I laid out $600 in $100s on a stand, then pretended to go in and shower. I heard him go into my room, then leave the hotel. So, I turned the water off, walked into my room, counted the cash, then walked out to the balcony where I saw him walking to his truck. I yelled at him to give me my money back. He knew he was stone cold busted, so he did. He never did it again, though. He was the biggest liar and thief I have ever worked with.
Glad you set the trap and it went over well, $600 is quite a bit of cash to lay as a trap, I admire your commitment.
His job was on the line, so I had no worries. ;o) Also, had it only been a single $100, he probably wouldn't have taken it. I made it easy for him to think I wouldn't notice one missing. hehe
