I know but that's how we ended up in this mess - years of people not voting because there were no good options. The only way to fix this is to get involved now and stay involved at the local, county, state (whatever political subdivisions) and help select who the candidates are. I don't know how it works in the UK but here your city or county conservative party is the best way to get involved. For example, our county GOP committee is having a meeting today to select county committee members. They will be crucial in either helping or hindering future candidates, selecting whether to have caucuses, primaries or conventions and so on.
And don't let anyone tell you all parties are the same. If you feel that way, then get involved and fix that problem. Let them know if they continue to compromise your rights away you're going to make sure they get a fast retirement.
I know you are right.
