I've heard plenty of people on the left, men and women, talk about how this case is helping give acknowledgement to abuse women can commit against men as well, and that it's not something to accept. That there has been a lot of discussion about recognizing abuse against women, but that trying to fight abuse against men in relationships is a common goal as well.

They're right to say that. Men have been vilified in the sense that they're not just always treated as abusers, but never treated as victims. Women have been painted as doing no wrong for far too long; this is living proof that they're fully capable of it, that neither sex is superior to the other nor should ever be seen as such.
