It means "suspected" via the person self-reporting some symptom that MIGHT be associated with Covid-19, such as a headache. Got a headache? That was considered a "suspected case of Covid-19."

And "confirmed" means a "positive PCR test," which everyone here should know is completely meaningless.

So, let's review ALL the numbers (working from memory here):

• There were about 20,000 people in the vaccine group, and 20,000 in the placebo group.
• Of the 20,000 in the vaccine group, there were a total of 1,594 "suspected but unconfirmed" cases.
• Of the 20,000 in the placebo group, there were a total of 1,816 "suspected but unconfirmed cases.
• Of the 1,594 in the vaccine group, there were 409 within 7 days of the shot -- and this 7 day period is what they actually used to make their claims of "effectiveness."
• But of the 1,816 in the placebo group, there were only 287 within 7 days of the shot (placebo).
• Out of the 287 in the placebo group, who self-reported a symptom within 7 days of the placebo shot, all 287 were given a PCR test, and 162 showed positive.
