Ive seen a dust storm turn the whole sky a really burned looking orange before, but never a dark red like that that... and the dust was obvious because the grit was everywhere and in your mouth every time you breathe in while outside.
I'd think something volcanic but the lack of screaming and fleeing suggests not, since being close enough to an eruption the whole ground would be trembling and vibrating even before any air-based shockwave arrived.
Probably the equivalent of Christmas tree lights somehow connected to the satellites.
Yes, dust is yellow to orange but not clear like this, smoke at sunset can be redder but is also hazy.
