"An arms contract between the United States and Taiwan is facing severe delays due to “crowded production lines” caused by the war in Ukraine, prompting Taipei to look for alternatives, the island’s Ministry of National Defense has confirmed.
The first batch of U.S.-made M109A6 “Paladin” self-propelled howitzers will not be delivered in 2023 as planned as the production capacity of the U.S. arms industry has been affected by the ongoing Ukrainian war, Taiwan has been notified."
This was discussed on the Duran I think. With the rail ways crippled by the Russians the Ukrainian army remnants need self propelled howitzers to reach the front lines.
Problem is that the Russians may view that as an escalation and really bombard the western part of Ukraine.
Then they had better have a big gas tank, 'cause there ain't no more gas stations open in the center of the country. Russia has bombed all the fuel depots. The Ukrainians may have self-propelled transport, but it better be goat-carts. Can't go far on fumes.
The Russians will just pick them off, one by one.
And is that a bad thing? The Ukrainians deserve it.
Honestly the goal of the Russians is to cripple Ukrainian military and seize control of eastern Ukraine. They might feel that they need to do more if such self propelled weapon systems indeed make it to the western Ukrainian border.
