First, what does anti-Christ mean? It means against Christ. So logically, anyone against him is anti-Christ. The scriptures point to an Anti-Christ power. The apostle Paul mentioned in a letter to one of the churches that the anti-Christ power he mentioned to them while he was with them was among them at that time. So it has been around a long time. The conclusion has been that it is a satanic power. Satan is the prince of this world. He gained the authority when Adam fell. Satan has the authority to give power, influence and riches to those who serve him. We can clearly see this today can we not? The reformers from 500 years ago differed on many things but nearly all of them agreed on who the anti-Christ is- the papacy. To this day the catholic church has undermined the authority of Jesus alone through faith to save the souls of men. They have made every effort to distract from Jesus the savior. This is why he is usually depicted as either a baby or hanging on a cross looking helpless. My savior volunteered to lay down his life for me. He is far more important than his mother could ever be.
