Data stored in DNA is synthesized, it's not natural DNA.
Maybe it's changed since I read this a couple years back, but they convert binary to DNA ACGT and then "print" the DNA. The DNA gets read and translated it back to binary, thus data.
This would be huge for data centers in both size/space and power use running & cooling all those storage drives that this could replace.
