If you live in a very hot area and don't have cooled parking, most lithium batteries degrade very rapidly. Road trips in electric cars will always suck. I often get into my car and drive for seven hours at 80+ MPH with the AC on. In many locations and use-cases, gas cars have zero competition.
Are there electric four wheel drive vehicles? I am in ND this last winter was colder than hell I lost track of how many days were below zero with the high of 15 below. When it did warm up it snowed, I don't know if I could trust an electric vehicle, also I'm glad we have a four wheel drive Explorer XLT for those situations.

Yes, battery tech needs to improve, as I stated. And it will improve. It always has.
