It rather begs the question why they are being used at all.

Same goes for all the rumble trackers. This is invoking the 4th Amendment basically. We reserve the right to be secure in our persons and papers. (data and privacy being the modern day equivalent)

Yeah, me too. TS is the first-ever social media I have joined, so I don't know how this tracker blocking works.

On desktop/laptop, use Brave Browser with the "Trackers & ads blocked (standard)" option enabled. On mobile, you'll need either a firewall or a privacy browser that has the option of blocking trackers.

tagging u/Mungfatchee to see this too

24 is actually and objectively a lot of trackers. How many does Gab have?

They're using them to track user data. There are alternatives to Google analytics but not as good.

Tracking / selling user data is evil. In fact I believe it's banned in the EU.

Depends entirely on the context. Data collection is not inherently evil. It depends on what type of data is collected and what's done with that data. EU has not banned data collection but requests sites be straightforward with what data they are collecting. Now Trumps team can see how many visitors are coming to the site, how many are signing up, etc etc. All very useful metrics for a business to have and prosper.

I don't understand, you're worried about cookies on your browser but not the FBI illegally tapping into electronic communications? At least here you have the choice to disable tracking.

None of this requires PASSING YOUR DATA TO GOOGLE. That's what's evil. Now that data is google's, and they can combine it with everything else on you to help their algorithm (and advertisers) understand you better, so they can manipulate your decisions and behavior more effectively.

Think of it as running into professional brainwashers all day long in the street. If they are random passersby and know nothing about you, they're less likely to make you do anything. But if they are armed with your family connections, circle of friends, interests, habits, etc. they will more easily manipulate you.

Social media is a goldmine for advertisers because people reveal their true opinions, habits and beliefs.
