You'd think that people with that much to lose would more seriously scrutinize why they were approached by some (hot?) woman.
Especially on an introduction/first date type of thing, maybe there's some ego thing where they convince themselves that they are so enthralling to women that they wouldn't wonder if there was more behind the apparent interest.
The guy is average looking at best, and seems to be on the chubbier side, women generally don't show guys like that a whole lot of interest unless you can demonstrate humor or something that makes you interesting... and that's generally not relating to technical skills.
