No doubt, all depends on the rules for survival. Gladiatorial slaves survived by vanquishing their foes. First came upon this factoid back in Psych 100 class looking at male response to various stimuli, oddly birth of their children lowered testosterone as well, making father less apt to lose temper and kill his offspring.
hence the dad bod
That's interesting, by chance remember the % drop in T after birth, how long lower level lasted, and any suggestions of hormonal chemical connection of reduction with birthing mother minus placebo ( ie. absent birthing process)?
That's a few decades ago. I'm sure there is published data out there. There is also decrease with successful pair bonding. Reduces the likelihood that we will choke them out. Samson and Delilah effect. Known since ancient times. Feminism teaches women to forget and abandon all the tools they possess to get whatever they want.
Mother nature knows, tries to save us despite ourselves...
Testosterone is certainly a double edge sword, defender of civilization or destroyer of civilization, always on a razors edge.
Brings into questions "intent is always assigned to the hand that wields the sword"
I'll search and post,
tks for that intriguing titbit.
Datadude, I look forward to seeing what you find.
I think it's all about balance, ying/yang, equilibrium. Nature finds a way to provide this for us (I believe). We can be defenders or destroyers but if we do nothing but destroy, then of course we know where that leads. Somehow (thus far anyway), we find it in us to stop.
As far as intent, even our laws recognize differing degrees of intent. Crimes of passion vs pre-meditation. Self-defense, as we saw in the Case of Kyle Rittenhouse.
There are (or should be) always countervailing forces. Man and woman together can result in synergy. Counterbalancing each other when individually we would probably take things too far, one way or another. Hormones, neurotransmitters, pheromones, prostaglandins all working together in an ancient symphony.
