That painting shows him stepping on a guy, but it's actually a disguised serpent.

The head on the left of the fire line, and the fire line defining the body.

The painting harkens the phrase "he shall bruise your heel, and you will crush guys head" paraphrasing. That's a reference to Jesus and Satan and the eternal conflict of good and evil, with good JUST edging out evil.
