Kissinger is trying to salvage Israel's hold on the Zionist Ukrainian oligarchy, by maintaining an influence in the region for a later attempt at retaking Crimea. Why? Because Crimea is the oil/gas hub for Europe, and Israel has gained control of the Leviathan deposit in the Mediterranean. That's what the Syrian war has been about all these years -- Israel wants to build their pipeline through Syria to Crimea, and Assad wants no part of it.
